Las Vegas, jour/Day 4 (1/2): Grand Canyon, Pinball Museum

: Ça a duré environ 1 heure, en masse pour te montrer l’immensité de l’endroit. / The flight lasted about an hour — which was plenty to give you an idea of the size of the place.

: J’aime bien cette shot-là aussi. Elle faisait partie d’un vaste panorama. / I also like that shot a lot. It was part of a huge panorama shot.

: Un vestige d’un écrasement passé (ben non voyons)… / A remaining part of a previous crash (of course not)…

: Résumé : Notre navette nous ramenant vers l’hôtel a été victime d’un délit de fuite! La compagnie a donc rapatrié une limo et nous a mené à notre hôtel. Glamour! / Summary: Our shuttle got involved in a hit-and-run on the way to the hotel, so the company got one of its limos to go the rest of the way. Glamour!

: Le groupe est retourné à la piscine, mais j’en ai encore à explorer. Maintenant près du coin Tropicana/Las Vegas Blvd (la Strip). / The entire group is now back at the pool, but I still have some exploring to do. I’m now at the corner of Tropicana and Las Vegas Blvd (the Strip).

: Je me dirige vers l’est, mais pas avant d’immortaliser ceci. / I’m going east, but not before taking a shot of this.

: Yes. C’est le temps d’un peu de nostalgie! / Yes. Time for some nostalgia!

: Je m’attendais à avoir l’endroit à moi, mais il y avait en fait pas mal de monde! (Les photos ne le montrent pas.) / I expected to be all alone in there, but there were actually quite a bit of people! (The pictures don’t show it, though.)

: J’ai toujours été nul sur les machines à boules… toujours préféré les jeux d’arcade. Heureusement qu’ils en ont ici aussi. / I always sucked on pinball machines. Always preferred arcade games. Fortunately they had those too.

: HAHAHA, je viens de voir que la recommandation officielle pour « Pinball machine » est « billard électrique »! HAHAHAHA, je vais rester avec mon « machine à boules », tout déconseillé qu’il soit. / (uninteresting crap about the French translation for « pinball machine », please ignore.)

: OK, donc, ils ont 2 *machines à boules* de Star Wars, et une de Kiss! Ils en avaient des tonnes d’autres, de tous les genres. / OK so they had 2 Star Wars pinball machines, and one Kiss one. They had a ton of other themes as well.

: J’avais ce jeu sur mon Tandy 1000! / I had that game on my Tandy 1000!

: Spy Hunter! J’adorais ce jeu, mais maudit que j’étais cruchon. / Spy Hunter! I loved that game, but man I sucked at it.

: J’ai finalement ré-essayé Star Wars, après plus de 30 ans. Je me suis rendu à la 3e ronde! Beaucoup mieux que le hipster qui a joué après moi. Feh. / After more than 30 years, I played Star Wars again. Made it to the end of the 3rd round, which was a lot better than the hipster who played right after me. Feh.

: J’aurais ADORÉ qu’ils aient Zaxxon et Out Run, par contre. J’étais im-bat-ta-ble à Out Run. / I would have LOVED it had they had Zaxxon and Out Run, though. I was a freaking god at Out Run.

: Voici la réception. C’est exactement ce à quoi je m’attendais. Rien de fancy, juste une couple de patenteux qui adorent les jeux old-schools. Un autre changement rafraîchissant du glitz de Vegas. / Here’s the « main desk ». It’s pretty much as I expected it. Nothing fancy, just a couple of tinkerers who loved old games. That was a very refreshing change from the typical Vegas glitz.
