Aujourd’hui, ce fut le Caminito del Rey, un petit trajet à flanc de montagne récemment rénové par le gouvernement espagnol. La version précédente était tombée en décrépitude et, bien que très populaire auprès des sportifs extrêmes, avait grand besoin d’une cure de rajeunissement. Le tout est donc redevenu disponible au grand public en 2015, et j’ai réussi à obtenir une place, malgré le nombre de places très limité.

Cela dit, j’ai réussi à me faufiler dans un groupe sans même présenter mon billet (ni mon passeport, que plusieurs sites recommandaient d’apporter). Tout le monde se fait remettre un casque, et hop! Let’s go!

J’avais aussi lu que le trajet complet était très exigeant sur le plan physique… Bof. Ça donne plusieurs kilomètres (avant même de commencer le « caminito », le chemin rocailleux du terminus d’autobus jusqu’au point de contrôle fait 2,7 km), et il y a des passages un peu plus difficiles et des escaliers aux marches très petites, mais ce n’est rien d’impossible.

Vous excuserez les descriptions laconiques. Il n’y a souvent pas grand chose à dire — suffit d’admirer le paysage. Ce que j’ai fait! J’espère y avoir rendu un peu justice.

Ce fut une expérience exaltante avec des vues imprenables, et la température était superbe. Magnifique journée! Demain, j’hésite entre deux possibilités. On s’en reparlera.

Today was the trip to the Caminito del Rey, a small mountainside path recently renovated by the Spanish government. The previous version had fallen into disrepair and, although very popular with extreme sports fans, was in dire need of a facelift. It’s been reopened to the public since 2015, and the available spots are quite limited — I somehow managed to book a spot.

Once I got there, I managed to sneak in a group without even showing my ticket (or my passport — the official website recommended it as an official ID). Oh well. Everyone is given a helmet, and let’s go!

I had also read that the whole trip was very demanding physically… Not really. It does cover several kilometers (before even starting the « Caminito », the rocky path from the bus terminal to the entrance is 2.7 km away), and there are a few difficult parts and some very small stairs, but it’s not impossible, far from it.

Oh, and forgive the terse descriptions. Often there isn’t much worth saying; just enjoy the scenery. I know I did! I also hope these pics make it justice.

Overall, it was an thrilling experience with breathtaking views, and the weather was also superb. A brilliant day! Tomorrow, I have two options, and I’m not sure which one it will be. We’ll see.
