Berlin, jour/Day 8: Going green! (Gärten der Welt) 1/2

Une autre journée splendide, alors j’ai décidé d’essayer le Gärten der Welt au Erholungspark de Marzahn. J’ai une tonne de photos, alors la suite viendra demain. Je suis aussi allé voir un film (B-Movie) au Babylon de Kreuzberg, près de la station Kottbusser Tor (autrement dit, Istanbul). C’était bien! Presque exclusivement des images d’époque, et quelques visages connus (Nick Cave, Tilda Swinton, etc.). Quant aux activités de demain, encore une fois, c’est le doute!

Hey hey,

Another superb day today, so I decided to try the Gärten der Welt at the Erholungspark in Marzahn. I got a ton of pictures, so I’ll show you the second half tomorrow. Oh yeah, I also went to see a movie (B-Movie) at the Babylon in Kreuzberg, near the Kottbusser Tor subway station (a.k.a. Istanbul). It was pretty good! Almost exclusively footage from the 80s, and some known faces as well (Nick Cave, Tilda Swinton, etc.). As for what I’ll actually do tomorrow, once again nothing is certain!

: Ahh, un Café Achteck! (Littéralement « café octogonal ».) En fait, ce sont des toilettes publiques. Il en reste une trentaine dans toute la ville. / Ahh, an Achteck Café (litt. « Octogon Café »). They’re actually public restrooms. There are about 30 left in the city now.

: Oh man, trop cool! Une moitié d’auto transformée en remorque! (Publicité d’une librairie seconde main.) / Whoa, this is nice! Half of a car, turned into a trailer! (The ad on it is for a second hand bookstore.)

: OK, passons à autre chose. Le S-Bahn arrive, je vais au Erholungspark (Gärten der Welt), dans le quartier de Marzahn. / Alright, moving on. The S-Bahn is here. I’m going to the Erholungspark (Gärten der Welt), in the Marzahn district.

: Une fois arrivé, première étape : le jardin oriental (disons moyen-orient, et non asiatique). / We’re there! First stop: the « Oriental » garden (think Middle East, not Asia).

: J’ai été chanceux de n’avoir presque personne dans mes photos. Il y avait un groupe qui n’arrêtait pas de surgir de n’importe où. / It’s a small miracle that almost no one is in my pictures. There was this group that kept popping up out of nowhere…
